I can't believe it!!!

My blog received an award! Woo Hoo! Holly over @ Haas Family Blessings, gave me a Kreativ Blogger Award! Isn't she sweet? Holly is a loving mother, wife, and fellow nuclear medicine technologist with two AMAZING blogs that I love to follow! I'm still kind of in shock considering I have neglected my poor blog over the past couple of months. Nothing like an award to give me a little motivation right? Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness Holly! This award definitely brightened my day (and possibly even my whole weekend!) ;-)

So here are the rules: 1-Thank the person who nominated you for this award. 2-Copy the logo and place it on your blog. 3-Link to the person who nominated you for this award. 4-Name 7 things about yourself that people may not know. 5-Nominate 7 Kreativ Bloggers. 6-Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate. 7-Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know they've been nominated.

7 Things you may not know about me:

1) My middle name is Sky.

2) I was supposed to be named Chad Robert after an ultrasound led my parents to believe they were having a boy. (Surprise! Surprise!)

3) One of my goals in life is to visit every state in the U.S. at least once. 25 down 25 to go ;-)

4) I secretly love my job! I only have to work 2 days a week, I have amazing coworkers, and I get to help save lives (how cool is that?!?!)

5) I am a shopaholic! Seriously, there should be meetings for people like me, LOL!

6) I once wrote an essay about Miss Piggy that won me several scholarships.

7) Two of my biggest fears are of birds and cats. I can't stand to be around either of them. I attribute this to watching the movies The Birds and Pet Cemetery when I was younger. (Big mistake, LOL!)

And now time for me to nominate some of my fave bloggers for this fun award!

Drum roll please...

Updates...

I know, I know, I have been such a bad blogger the past few weeks (or months, but whose counting), shame on me! Truth be told, I have turned to the "Dark Side" better known as Facebook, LOL. I hate to say it, but I'm a junkie, it's crazy how much time I could spend on there catching up with friends and family! Sadly, because of this, my poor blog has been neglected. Plus, the month of August literally flew by for us. I can hardly believe it's mid September already! We've been alot busier than usual lately for some reason (more birthday parties than I can count on one hand, a road trip to see family, doctors appointments, 6 month pics, work schedules, and of course football...). I'm surprised we even have time to breathe, lol!

Hook'em Horns!!!

Paise continues to grow up so fast. We had her 6 month check up last month and my little princess weighed 19.75 lbs and is 27 in! (Update she now weighs in at 21 lbs!!!) Whoa! LOL! She passed with flying colors, the doctor said she was definitely ahead of the learning curve for most children her age so that made momma pretty proud! :o) She had to get her boosters and blood work this visit, so needless to say she was not a happy camper at all by the time we left. Poor baby, I felt SO bad for her! I am so thankful that Nana went with us to soften the blow some. For those that don't know, I am in healthcare and give shots on a regular basis, but when it comes to my daughter I can't handle the mere thought of it. In fact when we took her in for her 1 week check up after she was born, I freaked out so bad that I had to be admitted to the emergancy room with a blood pressure of 210/130 (stroke levels!) I was a hot mess, that's for sure!

During our appointment we were given the go ahead to let Paise try little bits of "real" food. We have wasted no time. A couple of weeks ago she tried chopped up bananas and LOVED them! We couldn't give them to her fast enough, that's my little monkey for ya. She's at that stage where she wants whatever we have. This has been fun and challenging all at the same time. Fixing meals that are palatable for a 7 month old is not as easy as one may think. Also, we've been giving her these little cereal puffs that dissolve quickly and come in all sorts of flavors (sweet potato is her fave). These have been great for her hand eye coordination. She has finally learning how to feed herself these puffs and slowly but surely we are mastering the sippy cup! YEAH! Such a big girl!

I am still working on trying to get her socialized. We've started going to Little Gym once a week so that she can play and be around other kids her age. The first class went over like a lead balloon. To say she hated it, would be an understatement. You would have thought we were torturing her by the way she was fussing and crying the entire class. After much consideration, I decided to take her back with the hopes that maybe the first class was just a tad bit overwhelming and she might have been overstimulated. I am so glad I did, because she absolutely LOVES it! She enjoys watching the other babies play and she really gets in to the music. And don't get me started on the bouncing, that child could bounce for hours! (and hours, and hours...) Plus, I really think the class has helped her become more self confident. Before she was hesitant to try new things, now she dives in head first! It has been so much fun watching her grow and develop her own little quirky personality. She never ceases to amaze me!!!

It's All About ME... LOL!

I was catching up on what some of my blog friends were doing and found this idea from Linda at My Trendy Tykes. Go check out her blog, it's hilarious (that's a compliment, BTW).

So, without further adieu, I present to you the,

The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From The Tree...

I remember it like it was yesterday, Michael Jackson doing the moonwalk across the stage at Motown 25 on live TV. I was only 4 at the time, but this moment was life changing for me. When my little eyes saw this man seemingly "floating" backwards I was in shock, awe and total disbelief. I knew it must be his "magic glitter socks" that made this incredible dancing possible LOL! So of course I begged my mom for a pair. Lord knows I needed all the help I could get on the dance floor. I was the kid at the dance recitals that went left when everyone else was going right, LOL. I just knew these glitter socks would be the answer to my prayers! Once I got them I never wanted to take them off, and I refused to tap dance unless I was wearing them because they made me "better." I even went so far as to put a sticker of Michael on my dance bag (the kind you get from a vending machine) for a little added inspiration, haha! Who knows if they really worked??? I'd like to think so, but unfortunately I still have two left feet, haha!
With the recent passing of The King Of Pop, I was feeling a little nostalgic, so I put in a CD of his greatest hits while I was out and about running errands. Princess P was in the back throwing a massive tantrum as usual (she HATES her carseat). The song Beat It came on, I cranked it up, and I kid you not, there was instant silence in the car. I thought to myself that's funny, this kid has an interesting taste in music, but I'm sure it's purely coincidental. That was until it happened several more times, same thing, big hissyfit that ceases when that song is played.
How funny is that? I really thought I was losing it though because this only seemed to happen when it was just the two of us in the car together so I had no other witnesses to experience this craziness with me. Until this week! JT got home from work early and we had a few things to take care of. We got all loaded up, started down the road, and within minutes Paise was in meltdown mode. I popped in the CD skipped to song 5 cue guitar : "nuh na nuh na nuh na nuh na nuh..." Like clockwork she was silenced! He still wasn't a believer. Then my cell phone rang mid-song, so we turned the song off, within seconds P was screaming at the top of her lungs. No joke, as soon as I hung up and turned that silly song back on again she was quiet as a mouse! Coincidence??? I think not!!! Needless to say, I have turned JT into a believer, LOL!
Guess the apple doesn't fall that far from the tree after all?!?! ;-)

Six Months!!!

Time flies when you're having fun! I guess the old saying really is true?!?! Seems like just yesterday I was being wheeled into the operating room to have my sweet little baby girl, and today she turns 6 months old! I can hardly believe it, where has time gone? These last 6 months have gone by entirely too fast, at this rate, we will be celebrating your 1st Birthday WAY before I am ready! At any rate, my precious Paisely Grace, here's what you are up to now days:

  • You weigh 20 lbs! (that puts you in the 90-95%)
  • You are about 26 in (50-75%)

(These numbers will be verified at your 6 mo. check up next week)

  • You LOVE sweet potatos! Pears come in a close second though.

  • You can sit up on your own now for almost 15 sec. (Such a Big Girl!)

  • You are very vocal (when you want to be, LOL) You sang very loudly and entertained everyone at Crackerbarrel for about 45 min for mommy's birthday! (It was the best present EVER by the way!)
  • You have the cutest little personality. When people say hi to you, you pretend to be shy and bashful even if it's someone you know. You'll smile and bury your head all sweet like in our chests.
  • You give a WHOLE new meaning to the nickname "Miss Priss!" Sometimes, when people hold you, or are talking to you, you intentionally ignore them. You will look everywhere but at whomever is trying to get your attention, as if to send the message that you'll talk to them when it's "convenient" for you. It's the funniest thing (do this in a few more years and it'll be a different story, LOL)
  • You are obsessed with your feet lately. Your new trick is putting them in your mouth. Sometimes both at the same time ;) You can't stand for me to put shoes on you because then you can't get to those sweet piggies of yours, haha! Also, you learned this week that the harder you kick with them in the tub the bigger the splash you can make (oh boy!)

  • You have the most contagious laugh. I could honestly listen to it all day. No joke it's the sweetest noise my ears have ever heard! You really get your giggle box turned over when I start laughing along with you it's hysterical and I love it!!!

I am blessed beyond words to have you Paise. You have given my life purpose and meaning. I thank God for you daily! Happy Half Birthday Sweet Girl!!! I love you!!!

Any advice???

I disappeared for a while, but now I'm back (and hopefully better than before, LOL). You can breathe a sigh of relief in knowing that I haven't fallen off the face of the earth just yet (had a few close calls but... )

Anyway, things have been a little chaotic around our place lately, JT has started working a M-F gig leaving me and Princess P to hold down the fort. This has taken some serious getting used to. I have a whole new found appreciation for SAHMs, they deserve a HUGE pat on the back. I guess I was spoiled, it was so nice having him home during the week with us. I never realized how hard it would be to do simple chores such as folding clothes, cleaning dishes, cooking etc. on my own with a baby in tow. Thank God for friends like Aunt Dee and Nana who lend a helping hand a few hours each week so I can get at least some of my "to do" list checked off. I feel bad for even complaining, I should be thankful (especially with the economy in the state that it's in) that he has a job and that I am blessed to have a job that only requires me to work weekends so that I can stay at home and watch my sweet baby girl. While I can't even begin to describe how great it is to be able to spend this much time with her and watch how much she grows and changes daily, it has also come with it's own set of issues :-( Because she spends SO much time with me, she is starting to develop a pretty crazy case of separation anxiety when I'm not around. She usually does OK during the day if I leave her with Daddy or Nana, but it never fails if I'm not home around 7ish, the "Paisenator" will come out to play, LOL. Also, lately I have been worried that she may not be having proper socialization. I mean we get out and about and run errands, but 9 times out of 10 it's just the two of us. She's never really been around other babies or children except her cousins and even then just briefly. Case and point, recently we had the opportunity to spend some time with my friend Laura and her baby Caden who is about one month older than P. It was beyond obvious by the way our two little ones interacted, that her lil man knew how to play and interact Princess P, not so much. Needless to say, this has weighed pretty heavy on me. As a mommy, we only want what's best for our children, and I feel like I may be depriving her of the essential interaction she needs to grow and thrive. So lately I've spent a lot of time researching local Mother's Day Out programs, playgroups, Little Gym classes and so on in hopes of finding something that will help. Have any of you mom's been through this or anything similar? Do you have any advice?

P.S. Having a little bit of a blog "identity crisis" just in case you couldn't tell (the name, the look, the pics...) I'm working on this but no promises haha! ;-)

My Little Beach Babe...

Well, it's Tuesday and around here that can only mean one thing, it's McKlinky Blog Hop time!!! This weeks theme is "Favorite Kid Photo." This was a toughie cause I love snapping pics of Princess P, and it's hard to narrow it down to just one "favorite." But I guess if I really have to... LOL!!! :-)

Since we couldn't go to the beach this summer, we decided to bring the beach to us (sort of) with the help of our friends at the local photo studio. This was taken when my little bathing beauty was 3 months old, she was just learning how to hold herself up. What you can't see in the above picture is that she is on the verge of a thermonuclear meltdown, I forgot to mention that she HATES tummy time!

Poor baby!!! Needless to say, our session was cut short, LOL!
