I can't believe it!!!

My blog received an award! Woo Hoo! Holly over @ Haas Family Blessings, gave me a Kreativ Blogger Award! Isn't she sweet? Holly is a loving mother, wife, and fellow nuclear medicine technologist with two AMAZING blogs that I love to follow! I'm still kind of in shock considering I have neglected my poor blog over the past couple of months. Nothing like an award to give me a little motivation right? Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness Holly! This award definitely brightened my day (and possibly even my whole weekend!) ;-)

So here are the rules: 1-Thank the person who nominated you for this award. 2-Copy the logo and place it on your blog. 3-Link to the person who nominated you for this award. 4-Name 7 things about yourself that people may not know. 5-Nominate 7 Kreativ Bloggers. 6-Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate. 7-Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know they've been nominated.

7 Things you may not know about me:

1) My middle name is Sky.

2) I was supposed to be named Chad Robert after an ultrasound led my parents to believe they were having a boy. (Surprise! Surprise!)

3) One of my goals in life is to visit every state in the U.S. at least once. 25 down 25 to go ;-)

4) I secretly love my job! I only have to work 2 days a week, I have amazing coworkers, and I get to help save lives (how cool is that?!?!)

5) I am a shopaholic! Seriously, there should be meetings for people like me, LOL!

6) I once wrote an essay about Miss Piggy that won me several scholarships.

7) Two of my biggest fears are of birds and cats. I can't stand to be around either of them. I attribute this to watching the movies The Birds and Pet Cemetery when I was younger. (Big mistake, LOL!)

And now time for me to nominate some of my fave bloggers for this fun award!

Drum roll please...

Updates...

I know, I know, I have been such a bad blogger the past few weeks (or months, but whose counting), shame on me! Truth be told, I have turned to the "Dark Side" better known as Facebook, LOL. I hate to say it, but I'm a junkie, it's crazy how much time I could spend on there catching up with friends and family! Sadly, because of this, my poor blog has been neglected. Plus, the month of August literally flew by for us. I can hardly believe it's mid September already! We've been alot busier than usual lately for some reason (more birthday parties than I can count on one hand, a road trip to see family, doctors appointments, 6 month pics, work schedules, and of course football...). I'm surprised we even have time to breathe, lol!

Hook'em Horns!!!

Paise continues to grow up so fast. We had her 6 month check up last month and my little princess weighed 19.75 lbs and is 27 in! (Update she now weighs in at 21 lbs!!!) Whoa! LOL! She passed with flying colors, the doctor said she was definitely ahead of the learning curve for most children her age so that made momma pretty proud! :o) She had to get her boosters and blood work this visit, so needless to say she was not a happy camper at all by the time we left. Poor baby, I felt SO bad for her! I am so thankful that Nana went with us to soften the blow some. For those that don't know, I am in healthcare and give shots on a regular basis, but when it comes to my daughter I can't handle the mere thought of it. In fact when we took her in for her 1 week check up after she was born, I freaked out so bad that I had to be admitted to the emergancy room with a blood pressure of 210/130 (stroke levels!) I was a hot mess, that's for sure!

During our appointment we were given the go ahead to let Paise try little bits of "real" food. We have wasted no time. A couple of weeks ago she tried chopped up bananas and LOVED them! We couldn't give them to her fast enough, that's my little monkey for ya. She's at that stage where she wants whatever we have. This has been fun and challenging all at the same time. Fixing meals that are palatable for a 7 month old is not as easy as one may think. Also, we've been giving her these little cereal puffs that dissolve quickly and come in all sorts of flavors (sweet potato is her fave). These have been great for her hand eye coordination. She has finally learning how to feed herself these puffs and slowly but surely we are mastering the sippy cup! YEAH! Such a big girl!

I am still working on trying to get her socialized. We've started going to Little Gym once a week so that she can play and be around other kids her age. The first class went over like a lead balloon. To say she hated it, would be an understatement. You would have thought we were torturing her by the way she was fussing and crying the entire class. After much consideration, I decided to take her back with the hopes that maybe the first class was just a tad bit overwhelming and she might have been overstimulated. I am so glad I did, because she absolutely LOVES it! She enjoys watching the other babies play and she really gets in to the music. And don't get me started on the bouncing, that child could bounce for hours! (and hours, and hours...) Plus, I really think the class has helped her become more self confident. Before she was hesitant to try new things, now she dives in head first! It has been so much fun watching her grow and develop her own little quirky personality. She never ceases to amaze me!!!

It's All About ME... LOL!

I was catching up on what some of my blog friends were doing and found this idea from Linda at My Trendy Tykes. Go check out her blog, it's hilarious (that's a compliment, BTW).

So, without further adieu, I present to you the,

"What Google Thinks About Me" meme.

Type in "[your name] needs" in the Google search

Kellie needs to stop doing stuff to her face.

(Why don't you tell me how you really feel? LOL)

"[your name] looks like"

Kellie looks like she is in a wheel chair....(No comment, haha)

"[your name] wants"

Kellie wants some shoes. (AMEN!!!)

"[your name] does"

Kellie does Wicked.

(bwahahahaha!! Don't make me get my flying monkeys!)

"[your name] hates"

Kellie hates you.

(Not really, but if the shoe fits...)

"[your name] asks"

Kellie asks for her wedding rings.

(LMFAO! We won't even go THERE!)

"[your name] likes"

Kellie likes country music so much that she skipped school.

(Darn it! Who let the cat outta the bag???)

"[your name] eats"

Kellie eats it!

(Hahaha! Sad but true,

I am by far the clumsiest person I know!)

"[your name] wears"

Kellie wears many hats.

(all of the with style ;-p)

"[your name] was arrested for"

Kellie was arrested for punching boyfriend.

(Better watch out I've got a mean left hook, LOL)

"[your name] loves"

Kellie loves being a girl.

Now you know everything there is to know about "me" haha!

Pretty funny huh? Your turn!

The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From The Tree...

I remember it like it was yesterday, Michael Jackson doing the moonwalk across the stage at Motown 25 on live TV. I was only 4 at the time, but this moment was life changing for me. When my little eyes saw this man seemingly "floating" backwards I was in shock, awe and total disbelief. I knew it must be his "magic glitter socks" that made this incredible dancing possible LOL! So of course I begged my mom for a pair. Lord knows I needed all the help I could get on the dance floor. I was the kid at the dance recitals that went left when everyone else was going right, LOL. I just knew these glitter socks would be the answer to my prayers! Once I got them I never wanted to take them off, and I refused to tap dance unless I was wearing them because they made me "better." I even went so far as to put a sticker of Michael on my dance bag (the kind you get from a vending machine) for a little added inspiration, haha! Who knows if they really worked??? I'd like to think so, but unfortunately I still have two left feet, haha!
With the recent passing of The King Of Pop, I was feeling a little nostalgic, so I put in a CD of his greatest hits while I was out and about running errands. Princess P was in the back throwing a massive tantrum as usual (she HATES her carseat). The song Beat It came on, I cranked it up, and I kid you not, there was instant silence in the car. I thought to myself that's funny, this kid has an interesting taste in music, but I'm sure it's purely coincidental. That was until it happened several more times, same thing, big hissyfit that ceases when that song is played.
How funny is that? I really thought I was losing it though because this only seemed to happen when it was just the two of us in the car together so I had no other witnesses to experience this craziness with me. Until this week! JT got home from work early and we had a few things to take care of. We got all loaded up, started down the road, and within minutes Paise was in meltdown mode. I popped in the CD skipped to song 5 cue guitar : "nuh na nuh na nuh na nuh na nuh..." Like clockwork she was silenced! He still wasn't a believer. Then my cell phone rang mid-song, so we turned the song off, within seconds P was screaming at the top of her lungs. No joke, as soon as I hung up and turned that silly song back on again she was quiet as a mouse! Coincidence??? I think not!!! Needless to say, I have turned JT into a believer, LOL!
Guess the apple doesn't fall that far from the tree after all?!?! ;-)

Six Months!!!

Time flies when you're having fun! I guess the old saying really is true?!?! Seems like just yesterday I was being wheeled into the operating room to have my sweet little baby girl, and today she turns 6 months old! I can hardly believe it, where has time gone? These last 6 months have gone by entirely too fast, at this rate, we will be celebrating your 1st Birthday WAY before I am ready! At any rate, my precious Paisely Grace, here's what you are up to now days:

  • You weigh 20 lbs! (that puts you in the 90-95%)
  • You are about 26 in (50-75%)

(These numbers will be verified at your 6 mo. check up next week)

  • You LOVE sweet potatos! Pears come in a close second though.

  • You can sit up on your own now for almost 15 sec. (Such a Big Girl!)

  • You are very vocal (when you want to be, LOL) You sang very loudly and entertained everyone at Crackerbarrel for about 45 min for mommy's birthday! (It was the best present EVER by the way!)
  • You have the cutest little personality. When people say hi to you, you pretend to be shy and bashful even if it's someone you know. You'll smile and bury your head all sweet like in our chests.
  • You give a WHOLE new meaning to the nickname "Miss Priss!" Sometimes, when people hold you, or are talking to you, you intentionally ignore them. You will look everywhere but at whomever is trying to get your attention, as if to send the message that you'll talk to them when it's "convenient" for you. It's the funniest thing (do this in a few more years and it'll be a different story, LOL)
  • You are obsessed with your feet lately. Your new trick is putting them in your mouth. Sometimes both at the same time ;) You can't stand for me to put shoes on you because then you can't get to those sweet piggies of yours, haha! Also, you learned this week that the harder you kick with them in the tub the bigger the splash you can make (oh boy!)

  • You have the most contagious laugh. I could honestly listen to it all day. No joke it's the sweetest noise my ears have ever heard! You really get your giggle box turned over when I start laughing along with you it's hysterical and I love it!!!

I am blessed beyond words to have you Paise. You have given my life purpose and meaning. I thank God for you daily! Happy Half Birthday Sweet Girl!!! I love you!!!

Any advice???

I disappeared for a while, but now I'm back (and hopefully better than before, LOL). You can breathe a sigh of relief in knowing that I haven't fallen off the face of the earth just yet (had a few close calls but... )

Anyway, things have been a little chaotic around our place lately, JT has started working a M-F gig leaving me and Princess P to hold down the fort. This has taken some serious getting used to. I have a whole new found appreciation for SAHMs, they deserve a HUGE pat on the back. I guess I was spoiled, it was so nice having him home during the week with us. I never realized how hard it would be to do simple chores such as folding clothes, cleaning dishes, cooking etc. on my own with a baby in tow. Thank God for friends like Aunt Dee and Nana who lend a helping hand a few hours each week so I can get at least some of my "to do" list checked off. I feel bad for even complaining, I should be thankful (especially with the economy in the state that it's in) that he has a job and that I am blessed to have a job that only requires me to work weekends so that I can stay at home and watch my sweet baby girl. While I can't even begin to describe how great it is to be able to spend this much time with her and watch how much she grows and changes daily, it has also come with it's own set of issues :-( Because she spends SO much time with me, she is starting to develop a pretty crazy case of separation anxiety when I'm not around. She usually does OK during the day if I leave her with Daddy or Nana, but it never fails if I'm not home around 7ish, the "Paisenator" will come out to play, LOL. Also, lately I have been worried that she may not be having proper socialization. I mean we get out and about and run errands, but 9 times out of 10 it's just the two of us. She's never really been around other babies or children except her cousins and even then just briefly. Case and point, recently we had the opportunity to spend some time with my friend Laura and her baby Caden who is about one month older than P. It was beyond obvious by the way our two little ones interacted, that her lil man knew how to play and interact Princess P, not so much. Needless to say, this has weighed pretty heavy on me. As a mommy, we only want what's best for our children, and I feel like I may be depriving her of the essential interaction she needs to grow and thrive. So lately I've spent a lot of time researching local Mother's Day Out programs, playgroups, Little Gym classes and so on in hopes of finding something that will help. Have any of you mom's been through this or anything similar? Do you have any advice?

P.S. Having a little bit of a blog "identity crisis" just in case you couldn't tell (the name, the look, the pics...) I'm working on this but no promises haha! ;-)

My Little Beach Babe...

Well, it's Tuesday and around here that can only mean one thing, it's McKlinky Blog Hop time!!! This weeks theme is "Favorite Kid Photo." This was a toughie cause I love snapping pics of Princess P, and it's hard to narrow it down to just one "favorite." But I guess if I really have to... LOL!!! :-)

Since we couldn't go to the beach this summer, we decided to bring the beach to us (sort of) with the help of our friends at the local photo studio. This was taken when my little bathing beauty was 3 months old, she was just learning how to hold herself up. What you can't see in the above picture is that she is on the verge of a thermonuclear meltdown, I forgot to mention that she HATES tummy time!

Poor baby!!! Needless to say, our session was cut short, LOL!

McKlinky My Fave Recipe...

Well, looks like it's that time again, this weeks theme is to share your favorite recipe. Those of you that know me, know that the kitchen isn't one of my favorite places. In fact I could probably burn KoolAid LOL! Anyway, since today is my Birthday I thought it would be an appropriate time to share one of my favorite cake recipes with everyone! This is definitely one of the most delish cakes I have ever had the pleasure of tasting-hence the name ;o)

Is It Really Better Than Sex??? Cake

Ingredients
1 (18.25-ounce) box yellow cake mix, plus ingredients to prepare
1 (20-ounce) can crushed pineapple
1 1/3 cups sugar
1 (3.4-ounce) box French vanilla pudding, plus ingredients to prepare
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1 cup flaked, sweetened toasted coconut

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Prepare yellow cake mix as directed using a greased 13 by 9 by 2-inch pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. While cake is baking, combine the pineapple and 1 cup of sugar in a saucepan, and bring to a boil over medium heat stirring constantly. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

Remove cake from oven and using a fork, pierce holes into cake. Pour pineapple mixture over hot cake and set aside.

Prepare pudding according to package directions. Spread pudding over cake and refrigerate until thoroughly chilled. Whip heavy cream and remaining sugar until stiff. Cover top of cake with whipped cream and sprinkle toasted coconut on top.

Enjoy!!!

3 Things About Me...

Well, it's blog hop time again. I'm a little late this week, but better late than never right??? This week's topic is to list three things about me that you may or may not know, so here it goes...

1. Once upon a time, many moons ago, I was my high school's mascot which just happens to be a "blue gopher." True story, try not to laugh to hard. I actually won several national awards as "Chops" the gopher and was even invited to participate in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

2. I make people "glow" for a living. OK well maybe glow isn't the best choice of words, LOL. I am a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, my job is to inject people with radio tracers and take pictures of their insides. :)

3. I can't stand the sound of people crunching on ice. It makes me nauseous and gives me the eeby-geebies in a BAD way! Like worse than nails on a chalkboard, it's THAT bad! I can't even handle too much ice if any in my drinks. My mom has always told me that it's because when she was pregnant with me ice chips were all she could keep down so she was constantly eating them and maybe that had something to do with it, who knows???

McKlinky Blog Hop....My Fave Pic ;-)

My sweet baby girl. This was taken when she was exactly 1 month old she's now 5 months, my how time flies! It's one of my absolute favorites of her because I think it screams, "Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice!"

I'm participating in the McKlinky Blog Hop, and this weeks theme was "Favorite Photo." I was hesitant at first, but I had so much fun blog hopping last week that I figured why not participate? Anyway, thanks for stopping by, hope you enjoyed The Paisley Patch :)

Mommy Moments That Make Me Smile :-)...

I just love noticing the little things, the details and the little milestones that our sweet girl passes. They seriously make my heart swell up with so much pride.

Here's my Top Ten brag list of her new skills.

10.
With our help, she can pull up to a sitting position from laying down by holding on to our fingers. But she doesn't want to stop there, if we keep on pulling, she will bend her little knees and stand up all cute and super straight. She loves it and will do this 5-10 times in a row before she is ready for bigger and better things. Or until she gets so excited she spits up :(

9.
We bought her an activity jumper thingee awhile back, but have only put her in it sparingly. She has always enjoyed being placed in there for very brief stints but this week she actually played in there! She deliberately rolled the little wheels with her hands and batted at the hanging butterflies. She pushed the sound buttons and touched every single little toy! She even figured out with a little umph she could make herself bounce (imagine that?!?!)

8.
She finally discovered her feet! Her favorite thing to do now is lie on her back and play with them (we're talking for like 30 or 45 minutes at a time). She is completely awe struck by them, it's the sweetest thing! Not to mention it has worked out great for us, because all of this cuteness transpired at dinner time so we actually ate our dinner at a leisurely pace instead of hoovering down our food, Indy-500 style.

7.
She hasn't had any problems with any of her baby food! No matter the flavor, she can handle it like a total champ. She loves it ALL amazingly (so far anyway, haha). This week we tried sweet potatos for the first time and she liked them so much she ripped the spoon right out of my hand and Little Miss Independent started trying to feed herself. And, just to make sure none went to waste, she proceeded to lick her bib. That's my girl ;)

6.
I love it when she grabs at anything..... well except for my hair....I won't have any soon I swear if she keeps it up. I'm already down a couple of necklaces too, but I'll cut my losses, haha. If I pick something up while I am carrying her, she has to hold onto it too. Or if we are playing with toys I will hand her one and she grabs it and it instantly finds her mouth. Cute.

5.
I love that she gets so excited about bathtime. After our sweet potato baby food session, she was bright orange from head to toe, so of course we headed for the tub. Nevermind the fact that she'd already had two baths that day, lol. (Can't wait to get the water bill, j/k) She giggled and smiled and lifted up her little feet and splished and splashed. And then she loves when I gently hose her down with the sprayer to get all the bubbles off before she gets out, she starts kicking and flapping her arms in excitement. I swear in another life my baby girl was an exhibitionist, because when the clothes come off, she lets loose. (Still not sure that this is a good thing or not but...)

4.
Despite all the good stuff that's gone on this week, my little munchkin has been plagued with a bit of tummy trouble :( She's just recently started spitting up and it's becoming more frequent. We have her on reflux meds and a new formula now (cross our fingers that we get some relief). A sidenote, amazingly enough, as terrible as she's felt lately, you'd never know it, she hasn't let it get her down and she's totally been rolling with the punches. We went shopping with Nana on Friday and she had a blast, and get this NO spit up what so ever!!! Coincidence? I think not! It is seeming more and more that she loves to shop!!! Boo-Yah!!!

3.
I can totally see her skipping the whole crawling stage. I realize it's a critical stage of development, but... She has no interest AT ALL in being put on her tummy. Don't get me wrong, she can hold herself up, but she'd rather stand. Since she was about 3 months old, she easily bores of sitting or tummy time and insists on standing and trying to walk (with our help of course). This week while we were waiting for Justin to get home from work, she caught a glimpse of his picture on the computer and practically took off in an assisted sprint right for the screen. It was the craziest thing! No question, she's a Daddy's Girl!

2.
I love finding all her precious ticklish spots! New one this week, her chubby little thighs, don't ya just love em? All we have to do is say "I'm gonna get you," and wiggle our fingers at her and it instantly sends her into a fit of giggles and shreiks. It's the cutest!

and the Number 1 Super Proud Mommy Moment of this past week is......

1.
When Paisley and her Daddy sit in the glider and talk back and forth to one another.
They take turns mimicking each other for the longest time. She loves sitting on his knee while he's bouncing her and making the sweetest baby conversation. The faster he bounces her the louder she gets and more talkative she becomes. She is my little Chatty Cathy. Can't imagine where she gets that from, lol!!! ;)

Happy Birthday America

While spending WAY too much time blog hopping this week and not enough time cleaning house (yuck!) I stumbled upon a blog that had a great message I wanted to share with everyone in the spirit of Independece Day! I couldn't have said it better myself...

Happy Birthday America!

In a July 3, 1776, letter to his wife, Abigail, John Adams wrote: "...I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great Anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp, shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of the continent to the other, from this time forward forever."

Sounds like good advice to me. I hope everyone will find a minute this weekend to stop and think how fortunate we are to live in this great country. And please say a prayer for the men and women who are away from their families and homes defending us all.

Happy 233rd Birthday America!

Happy Father's Day!

Though I would rather ramble about my crazy adventures as a first time mom to a spoiled rotten princess, I'll put a sock in it (just for today, lol). Today, I just want to take the time to say thank you to all the dad's in my life (past and present). I was never what you would call a "daddy's girl," but I definitely wouldn't be the person I am today without the love, caring, guidance and influence of each and every one of these special men. To each and every one of you, you know who you are, thank you so incredibly much from the bottom of my heart for everything!

And to Justin, I don't tell you often enough, but I am the luckiest girl in the world (next to Paisley of course) to have you in my life. You are nothing short of amazing! You are an awesome boyfriend and a phenomenal daddy. I can't even begin to tell you how grateful I am for all that you have done and continue to do for us. You never cease to amaze me baby! Happy 1st Father's Day! We love you!

I created this slideshow with some of the pics we just had taken. A couple of the pics are the same that I used in a previous post, but... It turned out too cute not to share ;)

Daddy's Lil Dawg ;-)

We got these pics made yesterday as an early Father's Day gift. I thought they turned out great and wanted to share. (In case you couldn't tell, Daddy's a huge Georgia fan!)

From Princess To Paisenator...

I should've known a day that started out as perfect as Friday was too good to be true. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, life was good :-) Paise and I laughed, played, napped and even squeezed in a afternoon stroll to the mall. All day she wore an ear to ear smile in her normal Princess Paisley fashion, lol. When Justin got home from work, we packed up her things and headed to Aunt Dee & Uncle Tim's house for a fun filled weekend (that was the plan anyway, haha). No sooner did we get home, showered, and ready for bed and the phone rang. It was Dee, my little princess had unleashed the "Paisenator." (That is the ever so affectionate nickname PawPaw Frank gave her that's only used when a major hissy fit is in progress.) We've only ever seen this side of her a hand full of times but, if you've never experienced it in person, it can be overwhelming to say the least. I knew it had to be bad for Auntie Dee to call, so like any good parents would do, we jumped out of bed and raced to the rescue. Bless her little heart, she was definitely not a happy camper. No matter what we tried, bottle, bath, bed, bouncing, you name it my poor baby was inconsolable. Needless to say, we brought her home kicking and screaming and kicking and screaming and... Finally, several hours later, (around midnight to be exact, BIG YAWN!) silence at last! It wouldn't have been so bad if both of us didn't have to get up at 4:30 AM for work (HUGE YAWN!!! LOL!) It was a beating! I can't figure out how I used to be able to go out three our four nights a week on little if any sleep and survive. I guess I ain"t as good as I once was, motherhood can be brutal! Good news is, that Paise woke up a completely new baby this morning and she seems to be feeling well. I just pray she's retired the Paisenator for a while, haha! Despite our sleepiness, we're SO thankful and blessed to have friends like Aunt Dee and Uncle Tim who still agreed to watch our baby girl even if she can be a stinker sometimes! Fingers crossed tonight goes smoother than last!

Domestic Diva

So what if my idea of cleaning house is sweeping the room with a glance? LOL! Unlike most people, I love Mondays. After working all weekend, it's nice to just kick back and relax with the fam. Usually, we make it a point to do absolutely nothing on Monday's besides vegging out and enjoying the day. Today however was different, and I unleashed my inner June Cleaver ;-) I cleaned house, did laundry, paid bills (ugh!), fed Paise carrots for the first time (yummy!), gave her a bath and cooked dinner (try not to laugh to hard, it was delicious!) I think Justin is still in shock, lol! Let's just hope I can be this productive the rest of the week, haha!

This Ain't My First Rodeo...

Finally, I have given into temptation, and decided to join the world of blogging. I was reluctant at first because of my past experiences with social networking sites and of course there's a few select people who for lack of better words "just need to get a clue." I figured now's as good a time as any to start journaling my adventures in mommyhood considering I have a four month old and I don't foresee my life slowing down anytime in the near future :-) So here's hoping I don't bore you to tears and hope you enjoy.
